Invisalign®
The revolutionary Invisalign® system is the closest thing there is to invisible braces. Invisalign® is an excellent choice for Dr. HagShenas’ Los Gatos, San Jose, Campbell, and South Bay-area patients who want to fix gaps, misalignments, and overlaps without the hassle of traditional metal braces. Through a series of clear plastic trays, called aligners, your teeth are gradually moved into alignment, creating the straight smile you have always wanted.
Using computer imaging, Dr. Amir HagShenas can acquire digital images of your teeth to determine if Invisalign® is right for your orthodontic care. In some situations, the time it takes to complete the treatment can be less than what would be expected with traditional braces.
To begin the process, Dr. HagShenas obtains and sends the impressions of your teeth to the Invisalign® center so that your aligners can be customized to fit your mouth. Typically, a full treatment includes 18 to 30 aligners. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks, then discarded and replaced by the next in the series. The aligners are worn at all times, except when eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. With each new aligner, teeth gradually shift into place.

Laser Dentistry
Laser dentistry is an important part of the care offered at Dr. HagShenas’ Campbell and South Bay-area practice. Lasers reduce or eliminate the need of anesthesia and make many procedures more efficient and comfortable for patients.

Dr. HagShenas utilizes the following lasers for his procedures:
Waterlase®
This hard tissue laser delivers light energy to the desired area which mobilizes small particles of water, resulting in a safe and conservative removal of tooth structure. Laser dentistry is used to remove enamel, decay, and gum tissue, with a shorter healing time than is experienced with traditional dental drills. Unlike traditional drills, there is no heat or vibration with Waterlase®, which makes procedures more comfortable for patients. There is also less risk of cracking of a tooth or removing healthy tooth along with the decay.
Lasersmile™
Dr. HagShenas uses this soft-tissue Diode laser to reshape or remove gum tissue with immediate results and an extremely fast healing time. Gum tissue can be reshaped safely and comfortably with Lasersmile™ to create a harmonious gum line in relation to the patient’s smile. Teeth that appear to be too short, creating a gummy smile, can be cosmetically lengthened by reducing the amount of undesired gum tissue.
The use of the laser in the reshaping of gum tissue eliminates the need for suturing, leading to much quicker recovery for patients, in general.
DIAGNOdent®
This diagnostic laser can find hidden cavities in early stages, so that further decay can be prevented. It is an advanced cavity detection device that is becoming a standard in today’s modern dentistry. DIAGNOdent® uses a laser beam to measure the extent of decay on the tooth.
By using DIAGNOdent® to catch cavities early, Dr. HagShenas can prevent the spread of cavities by using conservative dentistry techniques, thereby preserving your tooth structure and minimizing the extent of dental procedures in the future.

CEREC® Dentistry
Through CEREC® 3D technology, Dr. HagShenas can create and place porcelain restorations in just one visit at his office. Anyone who has had an inlay, onlay, or crown will know that these procedures traditionally require two visits: one visit to prepare the tooth and make an impression, and a second visit to place the restoration. Through state-of-the-art computer-aided 3-D technology, CEREC® allows Dr. HagShenas to use an optical impression of your tooth to design a porcelain restoration (inlay, onlay, or crown), and bond it onto your tooth during the same visit.
Precision Dentistry
When you seek care at the office of Dr. HagShenas, you can rest assured that he utilizes the latest technologies to enhance the quality of your dental care. Dr. HagShenas uses high-powered microscopic magnifiers to enhance the precision of his procedures. He also utilizes quiet, fiber-optic dental handpieces for less vibration, less noise, and a more precise technique than is possible with common air-driven handpieces. Digital X-ray Imaging
X-rays are an invaluable diagnostic tool for detecting cavities between teeth, examining the nerves and roots of teeth, and determining the health of gums and jaw bones. Dr. HagShenas is proud to offer his patients the newest in digital imaging, the ImageRAYi X-ray system. With this digital imaging system, your exposure to X-ray radiation is minimal, and Dr. HagShenas can store your digital X-ray images in his computer system for a quick transfer to other specialists or insurance companies if needed.
Intraoral Video Imaging
Dr. HagShenas utilizes HD (high resolution) intraoral camera technology so that you can be better informed about your dental care. Through video imaging, Dr. HagShenas can view more clear and precise images of your teeth and gums for a more accurate diagnosis while sharing his findings with you. Through the intraoral camera screening, small details can be seen that may be missed in standard examinations. Dr. HagShenas can also save your images in his computer system so that he can have a permanent record of your dental condition. Dr. HagShenas can send these images to specialists, dental laboratories, and the insurance company when necessary.
